I can only speak for 'mkroot' and say that my toolchains came to
exist upon Landley's remark that "someone should do that" --

This is precisely the reason, per Landley's request/blessing,
and that I use them extensively in my own dev environments.

Exactly. The only thing I will boast is that the 'mkroot'-based
ones support a handful more architectures at this moment, but
Laurent has more GCC versions available. Like pumpkins, u-pick.
