you are not alone with the wish to bring the latest updates to
Debian/Devuan. I have also started to work on that and would be happy to
combine our efforts.
For Debian, there have been no updates of all skarnet software packages
for more than a year, so in order to get s6-frontend and s6-linux-init
included, it will be necessary to create updated packages for all
dependency packages skalibs, execline, s6 and s6-rc.
skalibs needs to be updated first, because all other packages depend on
that. The wish for a Debian package update of skalibs is tracked here:

Should the current maintainer be no longer active, we would need to
create updates for the Debian packages. You can find the current state
